No wonder dj's have a bad reputation!

I hope other dj's read this and think twice...

I just read an article this morning about a dj who's equipment broke down at a wedding and could not play the brides songs she requested. However, from the DJ's OWN WEBSITE, it clearly states "Rest assured that there will always be back-up equipment On Site and DJ's ready to roll in case of an emergency. "

The problem I have is that this was obviously an emergency and where was the backup equipment?

Brides, please listen... if a dj tells you he has backup equipment, you need to ask the question... "Where do you keep it?" You see, backup equipment does no good if it is sitting at home in the dj's garage. Some local dj's don't even carry backup equipment.

Here is MY policy... I bring backup equipment to every single event!!! Worst case, we are down 5 minutes while I get new gear out.

Also, ASK YOUR DJ IF THEY CARRY INSURANCE! If a light fixture falls on a guest, the dj is liable!

Again, my policy is that I carry ONE MILLION DOLLARS worth of insurance. At any time you can ask me to see my certificate. I keep a copy in my wallet at all times. It is registered with the state of PA as well. I also carry insurance that will replace my entire system in the event of theft.

Thanks for allowing me to vent!

Scott

February - Private Events

The month of February was full of private events. From performing in downtown Pittsburgh to Station Square, it seems like we have been all over.

January 16, 2010 - Ashley & Christopher - The Club At Shadow Lakes

First of all, I have to compliment Brittney from The Club At Shadow Lakes. She is doing such a great job there. She is constantly on the go but takes the time to address the needs of the wedding party. Great Job Brittney!

This was one of the nicest rooms setups I have ever been a part of. They had everything from a ice sculture to an expresso bar and everything in between. There were about 275 guests for this reception. The bridal party looked incredible and the bride was stunning. She is a small petite girl but looked absolutely beautiful in her gown. The maid of honor (bride's sister) gave a funny speach, complete with a nice powerpoint presentation on how to "read" the brides expressions. Again, we set up the video system but also tapped into the incredible video system at Shadow Lakes.

The guests danced all night long and really had a great time. We also had an anniversary dance where the brides grandparents won... 64 years, if I remember correctly. Truly amazing!

Overall it was a great night. The food was perfect and very well presented.

December 10, 2009 - Seven Oaks Candlelight Dinner Party

Baby it's cold outside but it will be nice and toasty tonight at Seven Oaks Country Club. I will be back there once again performing at the Candlelight Dinner party. This is a yearly event that Seven Oaks throws for the members and is one of the nicest events I play at each year.

Nice music, candlelight atmosphere... what else could you ask for?

Thanks again to Joe and Kristy for once again making Magic Moments DJ (Me), the preferred entertainer for Seven Oaks Country Club. We are honored and privledged to be your entertainer of choice!

December 5, 2009 - Youngblood Paving Christmas Party

I always look forward to performing at the Youngblood Paving Christmas Party each year. Candy Youngblood throws one of the nicest parties of  the year and I am honored to be part of it.

About 90 people attended this year and it was a great time. The food was awesome and the people came ready to party... (and drink - haha)

We started out with a few party games like the scavenger hunt and the north pole challenge and finally ended up with our own version of the 12 days of Christmas.

The highlight of the evening was the Ugly Christmas Sweater contest that Candy had me judge. Let me just say that there were some UGLY sweaters there. One stood out from the crowd. David was our winner and it was SURE ugly!

Again, what a great time had by all... ! Thank you again Youngblood Paving and I can't wait until next year!

Christmas Parties coming up...

I am looking forward to playing at some Christmas parties this weekend.

Saturday should be fun because they labled it "Ugly Christmas Sweater" Christmas party... !

I will be sure and post some pictures on Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

November 28, 2009 - Beaver High School Class of 1989

WOW! What a party!

It's always incredible for me to do anything for Beaver High School, my alma mater. Shelly and the rest of the committee created an incredible reunion with classmates attending as far away as California!

I must say, BHS danced all night! They had a wonderful time and so did I. It was great to see some old faces from days gone by and to watch everyone spend some time letting lose for a while.

A great time was had by all!

November 27, 2009 - Freedom 1983-1984 Class Reunion

What a great reunion! It was great to work with Shaun in making the Freedom Class Reunion a great success.

It was held at Mountaineer Casino in Chester, WV and the place looked incredible. The evening was highlighted by music videos from the 1980's all night long on a 7.5' x 10' video screen.

November 25, 2009 - Class Reunion Weekend!

I will enjoy a much needed day off with my family on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), then off to work a class reunion at a local casino and then another class reunion on Saturday.

It willbe a great weekend to see some friends from the past at the reunion on Saturday. The class was a few years behind me but remember every person from dj'ing their dances at the school.

Friday - Mountaineer Racetrack and Casino - Freedom High School

Saturday - Jeffries Landing - Beaver High School

 Wishing everyone a blessed Thanksgiving!

Great DJ, Bad Blogger!

Okay, some of you have riddled me with comments about my poor blogging skills and you are 100% correct! I am a great dj but a terrible blogger. I will do my best to get this updated and keep you informed of the incredible events that I have done and will do.

My weekends have been filled with incredible wedding receptions. Typically in December, we slow down with weddings and start up with the holiday parties... not this year. We are full of both! We are once again blessed with a FULL SCHEDULE of activities.

I also look forward once again to New Years Eve at the Willows Inn, in Industry, PA. This is about my 7th year there and it sells out every year. We have a blast! Shoot me an email for more details!

I also look forward to spending time relaxing the first week of the new year. No weddings booked! However, things start back up in week two and don't stop until November of 2010.

Thanks again for stopping by and remember that online chat is almost always on. Stop by and say hello. Just remember, I record all IP addresses for the other dj's who like to play around. They should really spend more time working on improving their business... perhaps?

Again, thank you to all my past customers and to all my future customers!!!

October 21, 2009 - Working for the Weekend!

I grew up in the 80's, so every time I hear the song by Loverboy "Working for the Weekend", I think of the events I have planned for the upcoming week. This weekend features two incredible wedding receptions at two of my favorite venues.

On Friday night, I will be performing at a wedding at Shakespears in Ellwood City. This is a beautiful venue simply because of the decor and the way it looks. It certainly has an overwhleming midevil flare to it.

On Saturday, I will be at The Timberhouse at Rolling Acres. I must say that my sound system in this venue sounds awesome. Not sure what it is but I always get a great sound here. We use the Bose L1's and the Bose B1's... not the old style big box looking speakers. Check out some of our pictures to see how they look at weddings compared to the "speakers on a stick" look.

Both weddings promise to be very fun and both brides are so great to work with. Did I mention the food at Rolling Acres is THE BEST!!! A good friend of mine, Joe, owns Beyond Parsely Catering. If you want some really good food for your event, give him a call. You MUST get the chicken ramano.  No exceptions! haha!

October 17, 2009 - Jessica & Bobby

It was great to see two people so in love that nothing would stand in their way. Congratulations Jessica & Bobby!

It was a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon for a wedding. The reception was at the Baden American Legion and the place looked incredible. It was decorated very nicely, complete with beautiful centerpieces and chair covers. The cake (from Carol's Cakes - preferred vendor of Magic Moments) was 5 layers of pure beauty.  The food was fresh, hot and delicious and was prepared by Janice's Catering.

The evening started with the formal introduction of the bridal party. We then went immediately into the toasts by our best man and also by the bride's sister and maid of honor April. After dinner, the bride & groom danced their first dance together, followed by the bride dancing with her father and the groom with his mother.

We got everyone up on the floor next and I do mean everyone! The dancing went well into the evening.

Our bride was SO friendly and easy to work with and was very very organized. The entire bridal party was fun and got involved with all the festivities.

Overall it was a super great time and all the guests stayed until the very end. We are thankful to have worked with some great vendors, who will all be listed below.

October 10, 2009 - Erica & Tony

This past Saturday, I had the honor to play for Erica and Tony at their wedding reception. I met with them prior to the wedding to go over the details and the planning paid off. Everything went off without a hitch.  It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon and the guests arrived on time and were excited for the evening of fun.

What can I say about Erica besides the fact that she looked stunning in her wedding dress. Tony is always a great guy and a pleasure to be around as well. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were all in a great spirits and were ready to go from the time they got to the reception hall.

As always, The Fez banquet center was great! Stevie Crivelli does a great job keeping everything organized and on time. The staff at the Fez is always extremely helpful and the food is very good as well.

The wedding started off with the introduction of our bride & groom, descending the staircase in the Balconade Room of the Fez. As I introduced each member of the bridal party and the parents/aunt & uncle, we got the crowd going to the song "I Got A Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Each couple had their own little dance to do as they reached the bottom of the staircase. Finally, our bride & groom were introduced to a thunderous applause from the crowd.

The Bridesmaid gave a toast to our bride & groom and then the best man said a few words. We then had a prayer that led directly into dinner.

Following dinner, we made a video montage for a bride & groom. Everyone loved seeing the bride & groom as they grew up and then finally as they began their life together.

Our bride then danced with her uncle and the groom danced with his Mom.

At Magic Moments, we strive on getting everyone out on the dance floor to the very first song. Out of the 200+ guests in attendance, we got everyone up except 8 people. We are happy that this set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Overall, what an incredible wedding reception. The bride & groom were incredible and the guests had a wonderful time as well. So, congratulations to Erica & Tony...!

Our New Blog...!

Here it is, our new blog page. We love to let potential brides know where we have been and also like to give a little review on the vendors we have worked with. We thought the best place to do this would be within a blog, so here it is.

We will do our best to keep it updated each Monday, after the events of the weekend.

Again, thanks for visiting our site. We are amazed at how many people come to this site and say hello.
